Today was a long day at the end of a long week. Chris has been on call every 3rd day, which is just a bit crazy. Anyway, Rachael was in desperate need of new tennis shoes, so I took the girls shoe shopping. Side note here: The only reason that I knew that she needed new shoes was because I happened to look closely at them one evening as I was putting them away. I picked them up and they were HAMMERED. The soles were nearly worn away, and she had worn part of the shoe away at the toe on the bottom so that if you poked it, your finger would go right through. I then realized that while we replaced school shoes and Sunday shoes in the Fall, we had not purchased new tennis shoes. This is because at the time, they were still holding up and she said that they did not feel too tight. When I told Rachael that we needed to buy her new tennis shoes, she said, "I know Mommy. They are tight, and sometimes when I am walking, I can feel the snow through my shoes." Okay. I felt terrible then. We talked about how I need her to tell me when her shoes START to feel tight, and she said that she would next time. At the store, she picked out her first pair of tennis shoes that tie. She said, "Mommy, these feel MUCH better." The new shoes were 2 1/2 sizes bigger than her old pair of shoes!
****We were only after shoes for Rachael, but Morgan and I tried some on just for fun. (What woman or girl can be around shoes and not try on a pair?) It was so much fun just trying on shoes with my girls! As we were leaving we came across a super cute pair of baby shoes that were on clearance. Morgan said, "Mom, you HAVE to buy these shoes. They are $2!!" She was right of course. They were adorable and they were only $2. Score.****
